Overview
The Swiss Army knife for your Minecraft Bedrock worlds. Edit worlds, manage players, handle backups, and fix things that probably shouldn't have broken in the first place — all through a desktop app that doesn't require a computer science degree to use.
Change game rules, edit inventories and villager trades, prune chunks on a real map of your world, work out why a village stopped breeding, and manage add-ons. Since 3.1 it reaches beyond your computer too: sign in with Microsoft to download, edit and upload the Realms you own, or connect to your own Bedrock dedicated servers over SFTP. Every change to a server or Realm is backed up first and can be put back.
A single file for Windows or Linux: just download and run, no install needed. Free to use.
Features
- Realms & Servers: Sign in with Microsoft to open the Realms you own: download a world, edit it like any other, and upload it back. Manage players, invites, backups and settings, and connect to your own dedicated servers over SFTP. Every change is backed up first and can be put back.
- Every world, in one place: Found automatically across every Minecraft install on the machine, grouped by which one put them there, with sizes and a health check on each.
- World Map: Your whole world drawn from its own blocks, in all three dimensions. Slice it at any height to see inside a base, or right-click a chunk to inspect it.
- Chunk Pruning: Draw the areas you want to keep, invert to prune inside them instead, and see how many chunks go before anything is staged.
- Player Inventory: Hotbar, armour, offhand and ender chest, laid out as Minecraft lays them out. Drag items between slots, or open one and give it enchantments the game would never allow.
- Villages: Who lives in each village, what they have claimed, and which claims are held by villagers that no longer exist — which is usually why the village stopped breeding.
- Entities: Every mob and object in the world, grouped by type, with its raw data editable and a jump straight to it on the map. Copy a pet or mob and paste it beside a player in another world.
- Villager Trades: Edit what any villager buys and sells, tier by tier — items, quantities, enchantments, armour trims and how many times a trade can be taken.
- Structures: Everything saved with a structure block, rendered in 3D with the block list it would take to build again. Export to .mcstructure, or import one in.
- Add-ons: The packs in your world and the packs on your computer. Reorder them, update them, see which are missing files or unmet dependencies, and patch packs to keep achievements working.
- Properties & Scoreboards: The scoreboard behind /scoreboard — objectives, display slots and every score — plus the custom data your add-ons keep on the world itself.
- Game Rules: All 31 rules as switches, grouped by what they affect, each with a plain explanation of what it actually does.
- Block Search: Name a block and get every coordinate it stands at, anywhere in the world. Narrow it to a range, jump to any result on the map, or export the lot as a spreadsheet.
- Backups: Kept outside the world folder, so they survive the world being deleted. Restore, verify, lock, or recreate a world that is no longer there.
- Console: Everything the program has done this session, written to disk as it goes — so the log from a session that crashed is still there afterwards.

v3.1.0 Realms Latest
✨ What's New
- Edit your Realms: Sign in with your Microsoft account to see every Realm you own, with its plan, members, who's online, game version, size, last backup and add-ons. Download a slot and edit it like any other world, then send it back with Upload to Realm. Toolchest saves what the Realm has before replacing it, and can close the Realm while you edit
- Manage your Realms: Rename a Realm, open or close it, switch which world is active and change each world's settings. Invite players by gamertag, change their role, remove or ban them, and make a new invite link. Restore one of the Realm's backups, or replace one of its worlds with a world from your computer, with the world as it is now saved to your computer first
- Undo any change to a server or Realm: Everything Toolchest changes on a server or Realm is backed up first, and the Backups page now lists your servers and Realms below your worlds, so you can put any of it back: files and add-ons sent to a server, its server settings, a world uploaded over the server's, a Realm world replaced, uploaded or restored, and a Realm's settings. Putting one back saves what it replaces too
- Your dedicated servers: The Realms section is now Realms & Servers. Save the Bedrock dedicated servers you run and connect to them over SFTP, with your password kept encrypted on this computer. Change the world's settings, game rules and add-ons without downloading it, then send the changes back; Toolchest saves the server's own copies first, and keeps what the server saved meanwhile. Download the whole world to edit players, the map and everything else, then upload it back. Change the server's own settings (name, game mode, difficulty, players, allow list and more) from its page. With a Pterodactyl or AMP panel's details, Toolchest asks the panel whether the server is stopped before changing anything
- Separate behavior and resource pack lists: World Addons shows behavior packs and resource packs in their own lists, as in v2, each with its own load order
- Drag add-ons into order: Drag a pack up or down its list to change its priority, or use Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down
- Resize prune and biome areas: Drag the handles on a rectangle's corners and sides, or on a circle's edge, to resize an area after you've drawn it. The chunk counts update as soon as you let go, and Escape cancels a resize
- See leftover chunks on the World Map: Chunks that hold data but no terrain show as faint grey squares. Hover over one to see what it is
- Icons as they look in Bedrock: Block and item icons are now drawn from Minecraft Bedrock's own textures, exactly as they appear in your inventory, and blocks such as lit furnaces, cocoa and glow berry vines have icons for the first time
- Experiments straight from Minecraft: The Experiments tab now uses Minecraft's own names and descriptions, in your language where the game has it. It's up to date with 1.26.52 and Preview 1.26.70, adding Nether Spawning Rebalancing and Experimental Custom Projectile Features. Older experiments a world may still carry, such as Bundles, Locator Bar and the 2025 drops, now show by name
- Copy a pet or mob to another world: Copy any entity from Entities, or any pet from Tamed Pets. It waits in a clipboard card on the Entities page, even in another world or after closing Toolchest. Press Paste and choose a player, and it arrives at their feet, in their dimension, with its name, health, armour and everything else intact. A pet becomes that player's pet
- Export block search results: Block Search has an Export button that saves every location it found as a CSV spreadsheet or a text file, with coordinates, dimension and block
🐛 Bug Fixes
- The Baby switch really grows a mob up: Turning Baby off left the mob a baby when the world loaded, because Minecraft rebuilds a mob from its baby and adult behaviours, not from the switch's flag. Growing up now changes those behaviours the way the game does, for 30 mobs including cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, wolves, cats, horses and foxes, and turning Baby on makes an adult a baby again. Mobs whose age Minecraft can't change this way, such as villagers and zombies, show their age without a switch
- Mobs named like mobs: Chickens, rabbits and salmon in the Entities list were called Raw Chicken, Raw Rabbit and Raw Salmon, the names of the food. They're now named as the game names them, as are Slime, Fireball and Block of TNT
- Imported dimensions keep their entities' own keys in step: Entities brought in with a custom dimension now record the database key they were given, rather than still naming the one they had in the world they came from
- Pruning removes everything in the area: Chunks with data but no terrain were skipped by a selection, leaving their chests, signs and other block entities, their entities and their pending ticks behind. They're now removed with the rest of the area
- Pruning removes nether portal links: A pruned portal no longer stays in the world's portal records, so travellers aren't sent to a portal that's gone
- The pack you're moving stays selected: Moving an add-on up or down keeps it selected, so you can keep moving it without picking it again
- Backups stay with their own world: Two worlds with the same folder name, such as a world and a Realm copy, no longer see, restore or remove each other's backups
Works with Windows 10+ and Linux x64 · Minecraft Bedrock 1.21 to 1.26.52

v3.0.5
New
- Complete Simplified Chinese translation: every screen is now translated into Simplified Chinese by hand, thanks to 捂脸 (Wulian233)
- Choose a map's type: maps and empty maps in the Player Editor now show their real name and icon, such as Ocean Explorer Map or Empty Locator Map. Pick a different type from the new Map Type list, and turn a map's player arrow on or off with Show player positions
- Use an inventory item as a custom-item base: open any selected item in Custom Item with all of its data ready to edit
- See progress while saving large changes: saving now shows live progress while Toolchest tidies a world after a large prune or dimension removal
- Recover players from older console worlds: export or transfer their inventory, equipment and other player data into a regular Bedrock player. The original data stays untouched
Fixed
- Advanced NBT stays open while editing: expanded branches, selection and scroll position are now kept when an item changes
- Importing an image as a map no longer fails when that player has unsaved Player Editor changes. The map item is added alongside your other edits, and undoing the player's changes removes the imported map too
- Clearer missing-entity export warnings: repeated IDs are now grouped by chunk and shown as block-coordinate ranges
- Much smaller worlds after large prunes: removed areas now release their unused space properly instead of leaving the world the same size or larger
- Cleaner World Map dimension changes: open panels close and map controls pause while another dimension loads, with no old map showing underneath
-
v3.0.4
New
- Edit and share translations: open the languages folder from Settings and update the JSON files. Your edits are kept when Toolchest updates, while untouched files still receive newer translations automatically
- Choose which dimension the World Map loads first; the others load when you select them
- Copy and paste inventory items: copy an item into Toolchest's clipboard and paste it into another slot, another player's inventory or another world. It stays available even after you close the source world
- Browse earlier console logs: pick a previous session in the Console tab, including ones that ended in a crash. The crash prompt now opens that session's log directly
- The Back and Forward buttons on supported mice move through the screens you've visited, just like in a browser
- The licence now explicitly allows personal and commercial use, including teams and studios building Marketplace maps. Worlds you create or edit with Toolchest are yours; the app itself still can't be sold or bundled with a paid product
Fixed
- Pruning chunks now frees up the disk space properly
- Dimensions with missing entity records can be exported: review the affected chunks and choose whether to omit the dangling references. The source world is left untouched
- Choosing an item while editing a shulker box's contents no longer crashes
- Restore points, removed add-ons and empty backup folders are now cleaned up from AppData automatically. Your backups are never touched
- Properties & Scoreboards stays responsive even when an add-on has created hundreds of thousands of dynamic properties or scoreboard entries
-
v3.0.3
New
- Linux is now supported: BedrockToolchest runs on 64-bit Linux desktops as a self-contained download with no .NET install needed. Ubuntu 24.04 is validated; other distributions should work but haven't been tried yet
- Transfer custom dimensions between worlds: export a dimension from the World Map and import it into another world. Toolchest identifies the relevant add-ons, can activate matching packs already in Minecraft, flags missing packs and version differences, and lets you review or undo the dimension and its add-ons together before saving. Protected Marketplace files are left untouched
- Change the biome of a whole area: a new Biomes button on the World Map lets you draw an area and set every chunk in it to one biome, as a single reviewable change. Terrain is untouched; only spawns, colours and weather follow the new biome
- Click a player's head on the World Map to open them in the Player Editor
- Refresh a player's look from their Identity card to fetch their current head and 3D model after a skin change, and clear all saved player heads from Settings
- Village centres now include a height: the Villages tab shows X, Y, Z — the same point the game uses to decide where cats and iron golems can spawn
- Edit inside shulker boxes and bundles: select one in the Inventory tab and its contents appear as slots you can edit, drag into and out of, or empty. Works at any depth, and bundles show how full they are and won't take more than the game allows
Fixed
- Map markers now show each player's real head instead of the default one
- NBT trees on the Entities and Block Entities tabs stay open and keep their scroll position while you edit
- Clicking into a value and back out without changing it no longer marks it as edited
- The player name and inventory item name boxes no longer refresh the panel when left unchanged
- The window can be resized again by dragging any edge or corner
-
v3.0.2
New
- A sharper, smoother World Map with clearer terrain and builds, even when zoomed out
- Player and spawn markers: players' last saved locations shown with head icons, plus the world spawn point
- Locate players in one click — jump from a player's Identity card straight to their spot on the map
- More options in the Custom Item builder: keep an item on death, lock it so it can't be moved or dropped, and set which blocks it can be placed on or break in Adventure mode
- Updated for Minecraft 1.26.50, the Wilderness Bound update: the Experiments tab matches the new release, and the map draws the new blocks and biomes — poplar leaves, wood and everything from it, red shrubs, shelf mushrooms, straw beds, the polished and brick forms of sulfur and cinnabar, and the Dappled Forest and Sulfur Caves biomes — instead of grey
Fixed
- Block Entities now shows an icon for every kind of block. Signs, hanging signs, shelves, shulker boxes, note blocks, suspicious sand and gravel, and potent sulfur were blank because the game names their saved data differently from the block; they now show the right icon and name the actual block ("Birch Wall Sign", "Red Shulker Box")
- The map's biome layer now names the right biome. Colours were keyed to a numbering that drifts from the game's from id 40 up, so cherry groves, meadows, deep dark and the newer oceans and bamboo jungles were mispainted; every biome now takes its colour from the id the game actually writes
- Opening the Player Editor no longer crashes on a damaged world. One player's damaged data used to close the whole app; that player now shows as having no data and everyone else stays editable
-
v3.0.1
New
- Create any custom item: choose any item or block, then change its name, description, durability, enchantments, armor trim and more — even in unusual combinations — and add it straight to a player's inventory, with advanced controls for every stored detail
- Change a chunk's biome: the Chunk Inspector's Overview now has a "Set biome" picker. Pick any biome and the whole chunk becomes it on save — the terrain stays exactly as it is, but spawns, grass and water colour, and whether it rains or snows all follow the new biome. A chunk with several biomes shows as "Mixed" until you pick one
- Enchant past the vanilla limit: the item editor's level control now goes as high as the game will actually honour rather than stopping at the enchanting-table cap — Sharpness 255, Efficiency 255, Protection 20 — while enchantments that break past a point stop there too (Lure and Quick Charge at 5, Loyalty and Piercing at 127)
Fixed
- Saving to an exported or Realm world no longer fails: worlds from a .mcworld export or a Realm download could refuse to save with a "no live write-ahead log" message and roll back, because packaging strips a small bookkeeping file. Toolchest now recreates that file exactly as Minecraft would, confirmed by opening the saved world with the game's own database engine
- Village size now shows all three dimensions (width × height × length, e.g. 65 × 24 × 65) instead of dropping the height
-
v3.0.0
BedrockToolchest 3.0 is a ground-up rewrite. The same program, written again as a single native Windows executable with no Python runtime behind it — it starts in about a second and opens a 3 GB world without stalling. Everything version 2 did is here, on a database layer built to be checked against Minecraft's own.
New
- World Picker: a landing page that finds every world on the machine across the Store, standalone, Preview and Education installs, with search, background folder sizing, a recents band, and a per-world health check
- World Map: your whole world drawn from its own blocks in every dimension, with height slicing to see inside bases and caves, see-through structure finding, and right-click chunk inspection
- Villages: which villages exist and who lives in them, their claims, timers, standing and raids — and detection of the orphaned dwellers and workstations that silently break a village
- Block Entities: every chest, sign, hopper, furnace, spawner, banner and lectern, grouped by type with its raw data editable
- Properties & Scoreboards: the custom data add-ons keep on the world, grouped by pack, plus full scoreboards with participants resolved to player names
- Tamed Pets, Player Transfer (export/import and copy chosen parts between players), Structures with a 3D preview and .mcstructure import/export, and a per-change Review
Improved
- Backups now live outside the world folder, are taken once per session, and every save is read back and confirmed with automatic rollback if it fails
- Logs are written to disk as the session runs, the last ten kept and offered after a crash
- Worlds open in milliseconds, scans run off the UI thread with live progress, and 21 languages — including right-to-left — follow your OS and switch without a restart
- Chunk Inspector, Tick Data, Maps, Villager Trades, Entities, Flat World, Gamerules, Experiments, Abilities and the add-on screens all rebuilt
-
v2.8.7
Added
- Structures tab listing every structure you saved in-game with structure blocks, with export, import, and delete
- A save reminder to close the world in Toolchest before opening it in Minecraft
Fixed
- Pruning now removes stranded entities from cleared chunks, not just terrain
- NBT edits in the data view now save reliably across every editor
- Villager trades no longer carry stale enchantments when swapping to a non-enchantable item
-
v2.8.6
Added
- Unlimited villager trade uses by setting max uses to -1
Fixed
- Villager trade edits now persist in-game instead of being regenerated by Minecraft
- Entity NBT edits now update in the UI immediately after saving
- Advanced tab edits such as rotation, position and list properties now save correctly
- Prevented a Bedrock Dedicated Server "CURRENT file" corruption warning after editing
-
v2.8.5
Added Minecraft 1.26.10 support, landing-page addon management, villager biome editing, batch addon imports, and expanded player/property search. Also fixed entity duplication, villager profession persistence, incomplete addon imports, and chunk-map scrolling.
