Bedrock Dynamic Lights

The most advanced dynamic lighting add-on ever made for Bedrock: hold it, drop it, throw it or set it alight, and it glows, in colour with Vibrant Visuals.

Overview

You're deep in a cave with a stack of torches. Place one, walk on, place another, walk on... Or just hold one, and the darkness pulls back around you wherever you go.

Bedrock Dynamic Lights lights the world around everything that glows. Hold a torch, a lantern or a sea lantern in either hand and it lights up the cave around you, at exactly the brightness that light gives when placed: we measured every block in the game to get them right. Drop it and it glows where it lands; throw it and the light flies with it. The light goes where you're heading rather than where you were, so it keeps up when you sprint, ride a horse or minecart, or fly with an elytra, with no flicker and no trail left behind.

With Vibrant Visuals on, every light glows its true colour: soul torches light the cave icy blue, redstone torches red, copper torches green, torches and lanterns a warm orange, amethyst purple, sea lanterns pale blue and froglights in their own colours. Without it, everything still lights up in classic white light.

It isn't just what you carry. Blazes, magma cubes, glow squid, allays, vexes, end crystals and wardens (whose glow beats with their heart) light up their surroundings. Anything on fire glows, including you and your flaming arrows. Give an armor stand a lantern and it's a lamp post; a zombie that grabs your torch carries it right to you. Ghast fireballs light up the Nether as they fly at you. Lit TNT and creepers about to explode pulse white, faster and faster, and explosions, lightning strikes and fireworks light up everything around them for a moment.

Underwater, glowstone, sea lanterns and lanterns keep shining, while torches go out with a sizzle and a puff of steam (or let every light work underwater, as a server setting). Glowstone, froglights and other glowing blocks are held properly in your off hand, and sneak + use swaps a light into it.

Got an add-on with its own glowing crystals or lamps? Place one somewhere dark and Dynamic Lights measures its light on the spot; from then on it glows in your hand and on the ground like any vanilla light. No setup, no config files.

Your world is safe: it only ever places its own invisible light blocks, only into empty air or water, and only ever removes its own. It never deletes a builder's light blocks or a block you placed, and anything left behind after a crash cleans itself up within two seconds. It's built for servers too: no light blocks outdoors in daylight, nothing to do while things stand still, no scanning the world, and limits admins control.

/mygen:dynamiclights switches your own light on or off and the off hand shortcut. Admins get a server page: every kind of light on or off, coloured light, underwater lights, range and limits, and the learned lights. Add-on creators can make their items and mobs glow with a tag or a script event and flash light for their spells.
