Advanced Floating Text

Advanced Floating Text

Floating text, holograms, live leaderboards and clickable signs for Minecraft Bedrock Edition, all made and edited in game with a live preview. It's drawn with Minecraft's own text rendering, so there are no entities: nothing to /kill, nothing that freezes in an unloaded chunk, and nothing running for texts nobody is near.

Getting Started

  1. Turn on Advanced Floating Text in your world's Behavior Packs (the resource pack comes with it)
  2. Type /mygen:floatingtext
  3. Choose Create a text here and pick a template
  4. Edit it: every change shows on the real text as you make it

Or type /mygen:floatingtext "&6Hello!" to put a text in front of you straight away.

Operators can edit, and so can anyone with the floatingtext:editor tag (/tag <player> add floatingtext:editor). The Floating Text Wand (from the menu, or the creative inventory under Equipment) edits the text you're looking at.

Features

  • Colours: & or § codes, every Bedrock colour including the material colours, &#rrggbb hex colours, <gradient:#ff0000:#0000ff>text</gradient> and <rainbow>text</rainbow>
  • Look: size, background (the game's, none, dark, black, light or eight colours), face the player or a fixed direction and tilt, readable from behind, hidden behind blocks, view distance
  • Motion: bob, spin, swing, pulse, bob and spin, at any speed
  • Text effects: rainbow, shimmer, typewriter, blink, glitch
  • Pages: up to 12 that turn by themselves
  • Particles: sparkles, glow, embers, snow, hearts, music notes, enchanting glyphs, orbit ring, fireflies, bubbles and shooting stars, in any colour and amount
  • Click actions: punch a text to turn its page, get a message, run a command, hear a sound or teleport
  • Placeholders that update live, some different for every player (below)
  • Leaderboards from any scoreboard, with offline players' names remembered
  • Who sees it: everyone, players with or without a tag, or editors only
  • Groups that switch on and off together
  • Recently deleted: bring back any of the last 10 deleted texts
  • Search every text in the world by name, group or contents
  • Script events for command blocks and other add-ons
  • World settings for operators: load range, placeholder update rate, motion smoothness, particles and clicks on or off, editor tag, clock offset

Script Events

Texts are found by name or id.

/scriptevent floatingtext:text <name>|<text>      \n for a new line, || for a new page
/scriptevent floatingtext:show <name>
/scriptevent floatingtext:hide <name>
/scriptevent floatingtext:page <name>|<page number>
/scriptevent floatingtext:group <group>|on (or off)
/scriptevent floatingtext:var <name>|<value>
/scriptevent floatingtext:create <name>|<text> where the command runs

Good to Know

  • With Vibrant Visuals on, the game draws floating text through walls even when it's set to hide behind blocks (MCPE-243723)
  • Hex colours and gradients use the nearest of Bedrock's colours
  • The game limits how many texts can be on screen at once across the world; texts nobody is near don't count

Requirements

  • Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.26.50 or later
  • No experimental toggles
