Overview

Your friends deserve to be on your wall, in 3D, with their weird hair and their cursed Character Creator outfits. Actual Player Heads makes custom head blocks from real players: type in their gamertags and you get an add-on full of their heads, ready to place, wear and fight over.

Heads that look like the person

For Bedrock players it builds their actual Character Creator character in 3D, so hats sit on heads and horns, ears, ponytails, sunglasses and enormous anime hair all land where they should. Java players come straight from their skin. A Bedrock character, a Java streamer and a PNG skin someone sent you in Discord can all go in the same pack, side by side.

Place it, wear it, loot it

Heads go on the floor and walls and turn to face you when placed, and they're explosion-proof, because creepers have done enough damage already. When a player whose head is in the pack dies, it drops, tagged with what got them and when: the player or mob that killed them, by its name tag if it had one, or the cause, such as lava or a fall. Look at a placed head and a label shows whose it is and who claimed it; only the player looking sees it.

Pop a head in your helmet slot and walk around wearing your mate's face. A worn head keeps you off the locator bar, like a vanilla mob head, and an optional setting makes endermen ignore you, like a carved pumpkin. The wandering trader turns up with heads to sell, and you can have any mob drop a random head from your pack, so even a world your favourite YouTubers will never join can fill a trophy wall. Heads stack to 64, and every feature can be switched off.

Built in your browser

At playerheads.mygen.co.uk you pick Bedrock or Java, type gamertags and watch each head spin in a 3D preview before you download your .mcaddon. Skins and personas come from minecraftrender.com, which looks players up through Xbox Live, and the pack is built right on the page. Up to 1,000 heads fit in one pack, and the site shows how much of Minecraft's per-world block limit yours uses. Upload a pack later to add or remove heads: it updates in place with your settings, and packs from older versions upgrade to full 3D heads in one click.

Version 3.3.0 records what killed every player whose head drops, adds the label over placed heads, hides head wearers from the locator bar, lets endermen ignore them, and fixes trophy tags being passed from one head to another.

Changelog

  1. v3.3.2 Latest
    Fixed
    • Tilted hats came out wrong. A hat tipped back (or anything else set at an angle) now keeps its angle as one solid piece, instead of falling apart into flat panels with its sides standing upright.
    • One elf ear could face the wrong way. Both ears now point up and out, as in the game, and show from behind as well as in front.
    New
    • Bigger previews. Character Creator heads on the website now spin at the same size as Java heads, in a wider frame, so ears, hat brims and horns no longer shrink the face to a speck.
    Notes
    • Website only again: the add-on itself hasn't changed. Upload your pack to the site and download it again to rebuild your heads.

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50+

  2. v3.3.1
    Fixed
    • Elf ears came out orange. Character Creator pieces that the game colours to match your skin, such as elf ears, now come out in the player's own skin colour.
    • Thin see-through pieces showed up twice. Pieces such as elf ears appeared as a mirrored pair making a V shape. They now show once, the right way round.
    • The refresh button could show an old outfit. Refreshing a head now gets the player's latest Character Creator look, even if they changed it a moment ago.
    Notes
    • This release is all in the website: the add-on itself hasn't changed. Upload your pack to the site and download it again to rebuild your heads with these fixes.

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50+

  3. v3.3.0
    New
    • Every death gets a story. A head dropped when a player dies now says what got them: the player or mob that killed them (by its name tag, if it had one), or how they died, such as "Cause: Fall damage" or "Cause: Lava". Before, only deaths at another player's hands were recorded.
    • See whose head it is. Look at a placed head and a label above it shows whose it is, plus who claimed it and when. Only you see your label. You can turn this off in the generator.
    • Worn heads hide you from the locator bar, as vanilla mob heads and carved pumpkins do. On by default; you can turn it off in the generator.
    • Endermen can ignore head wearers. A new generator option makes a worn head work like a carved pumpkin: look an enderman in the eye and it won't come for you. It's off by default because it replaces the vanilla enderman, so leave it off if another add-on changes endermen.
    • It's called Actual Player Heads now, everywhere. The packs import as "Actual Player Heads", and downloads are named to match.
    Fixed
    • Heads broken in creative could pass their "Killed by" tag on. Place a plain head in the same spot later, break it in survival, and it dropped with the old tag.
    • A plain head could pick up another head's "Killed by" tag if you'd tried to place a tagged head just before and it didn't go down.
    • Random mob drops now come only from mobs. Armour stands, boats, minecarts and projectiles never drop heads.
    • Re-uploading a pack to the site forgot its mob-drop settings. It now brings back whether mob drops were on, and at what chance.
    Notes
    • Needs Minecraft 1.26.50 or newer. Still no experimental toggles.
    • To get all this, upload your pack to the site and download it again. It updates in place, as always.
    • Each placed head now keeps its own "Killed by" tag, rather than the world keeping one list of every placed head. Heads placed with an older pack keep their tags, and move over to the new storage the first time someone looks at them or breaks them.

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50+

  4. v3.2.1
    New
    • A fresh new website. playerheads.mygen.co.uk has a new look, matching mygen.co.uk.
    • More players can be found. Skins and Character Creator personas now come from minecraftrender.com, which looks players up through Xbox Live, so far more Bedrock players turn up.
    • Everything happens in your browser now. Personas are converted and your pack is built right on the page.
    Notes
    • The add-on itself works exactly as before. Packs built from now on are version 3.2.1; there's no need to rebuild an existing pack.
    • Can't find a player? Point them at BedrockGo.com: one quick join and they'll show up.
  5. v3.2.0

    Fixed

    • Big packs could push a world past Minecraft's limit of 65,536 custom block variants. Each head used to cost 96 variants, making around 680 heads the real ceiling; each head now costs 20 (or as few as 8 with coarser rotation), so even a 1000-head pack fits comfortably. Rebuild your pack to pick this up
    • Placed heads no longer flash the wrong way for a tick before turning to face you

    New

    • Choose how finely floor heads rotate: 22.5° steps (16 directions, as before), 45° (8) or 90° (4). Coarser steps cost fewer block variants, which matters alongside other custom-block addons
    • The generator now shows how much of the block variant limit your pack uses

    Notes

    • Heads already placed in a world keep their position but may face a different direction after updating to a 3.2.0 pack. Break and re-place them to fix

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.10+

  6. v3.1.0

    New

    • Random head drops from mob kills, with configurable odds
    • Heads now stack to 64; heads claimed from player kills remain separate to preserve their killed-by tag
    • Increased the maximum pack size from 50 to 1000 heads
    • Added a warning before leaving the generator with unsaved heads

    Fixed

    • Heads held in your hand or dropped on the ground no longer appear as grey blocks
    • Corrected the shape and placement of hats, helmets, horns, and large hairstyles
    • Fixed cases where the preview did not match the generated head
    • Similar player names can no longer overwrite each other

    Improved

    • Generated packs are around ten times smaller
    • Large packs now show accurate build progress and remain responsive while scrolling
    • Improved Bedrock player lookup coverage

    Notes

    • Requires Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.10 or newer; no experimental toggles are required
    • Existing packs can be uploaded and rebuilt as an update while retaining their UUIDs

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.10+

  7. v3.0.0

Added full 3D Bedrock persona support, Java Edition player skins, uploaded PNG skins, and mixed packs containing all three player types.
