Bedrock Health Bars

Bedrock Health Bars

Health bars and floating damage numbers over the creatures you fight, and party frames that keep your friends and wolves on your screen. Every player picks what they see, and admins can switch each feature off for the whole server.

Features

  • Health bars: a bar above the creatures you fight that slides to their exact health, with a damage trail
  • Six styles: Classic, Souls, Hearts, Pokémon, Segmented and Minimal; each player picks their own
  • Names and health: what the creature is above its bar (players and named creatures keep the game's own name tag) and its health (14/20) on it
  • When bars show: when a creature is injured, when you look at it, or only while you sneak, within a range you choose
  • Your pets: your tamed animals' bars stay up for you whenever they're near, at any health
  • Damage numbers: damage floats up in red, healing in green, critical hits (falling melee hits) in large orange, and other big hits in larger red
  • Only your fights: on a busy server you see numbers for your own fights, unless you choose to see everyone's
  • Party frames: your party's and wolves' live portraits and health on screen, in your bar style, with an arrow pointing the way to each and how far away they are
  • Parties: invite players from the menu and see each other's health; the leader, marked with a crown, invites, removes and hands on the lead
  • Your own choice: each player switches every feature on or off for themselves; what you switch off is hidden from you only
  • Server control: admins can switch any feature off for everyone (players' own choices are kept for when it comes back on), set the default style and lock everyone to it, and limit the range and how many bars show at once
  • Fair play: creatures with Invisibility don't show a bar, and the Wither and Ender Dragon keep just their own boss bar
  • No experimental toggles

Requirements

  • Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50 or newer

Installation

  1. Download the .mcaddon and open it: Minecraft imports both packs.
  2. Create or edit a world, go to Behavior Packs and turn on Bedrock Health Bars. Its resource pack switches on with it.

Use

/mygen:healthbars opens your settings, with a page each for health bars, damage numbers and your party. Invite players and set up the party frames on the Party page. Admins (Game Directors and above) also get a Server settings button.

For other add-ons

Show your own numbers in this add-on's style with the healthbars:number script event. It only shows a number: it doesn't change anyone's health. The number goes to the same players a game hit would, following each player's settings.

From a command, the entity running it is the target. The style is optional: damage (red, the default), heal (green) or crit (large orange).

/execute as @e[type=zombie,c=1] run scriptevent healthbars:number crit 25

From a script:

system.sendScriptEvent('healthbars:number', JSON.stringify({
    target: entity.id, // leave out to use the event's source entity
    amount: 12,
    style: 'crit', // damage, heal or crit
    attacker: player.id, // optional: counts as that player's fight, for "Other players' fights" off
}));

Don't send numbers for damage the game already reports (applyDamage, /damage): those show by themselves. Mistakes are reported in the content log. Words such as "MISS" or "BLOCKED" aren't supported yet.
